5 SMART Goals

In order to support the child’s self-regulation skills, I will help them recognize and manage their emotions so they can participate calmly in daily routines by the beginning of December 2025.
Strategies:
1. I will model deep breathing, calm voices, and problem-solving language like asking, "Do you need a break?" during challenging moments so the child can learn regulation through repeated guided practice.
2. I will create a small kit (stress ball, visual emotions chart, sensory items) that the child can access independently, encouraging them to use self-regulation tools instead of relying solely on adults.
CHILD
In order to protect family privacy, I will maintain strict confidentiality when discussing children or family matters so trust and professionalism are upheld at all times by the end of the school year.
Strategies:
1. I will use only approved platforms and private spaces for conversations, ensuring that sensitive information is never shared in public areas or with unauthorized individuals.
2. I will seek written or verbal consent before discussing family details with support staff or specialists, reinforcing respect, transparency, and ethical communication practices.

FAMILY
COLLEAGUES

In order to improve team communication, I will apply conflict-resolution strategies using “I messages” so colleagues feel respected, heard, and supported by the beginning of December 2025.
Strategies
1. I will practice addressing concerns using the format “I feel… when… because…” to express my needs clearly without blame, which reduces tension and encourages open dialogue.
2. After expressing an “I message,” I will restate my colleague’s response to confirm understanding, helping prevent miscommunication and building a more supportive teamwork atmosphere.
COMMUNITY
In order to strengthen community partnerships, I will participate in a donation drive with local organizations so children and families experience a sense of community care by February 2026.
Strategies
1. I will organize a simple classroom donation bin (e.g., food, clothing, books) and communicate clear guidelines to families, making participation accessible and meaningful.
2. I will connect with a local charity to schedule drop-off dates and share updates with the class, helping children understand generosity, social responsibility, and community involvement.

ENVIRONMENT
In order to create an engaging indoor and outdoor environment, I will provide play-based learning opportunities that provoke curiosity, exploration, and inquiry by the beginning of December 2025.
Strategies
1. I will introduce loose parts (stones, lids, fabrics, tubes) that children can manipulate freely, encouraging creativity and scientific thinking during play.
2. I will set up themed learning invitations such as magnifying glasses with natural items or ramps with varied materials to prompt questioning, prediction, and experimentation in a self-directed way.
