I chose to include this piece of pedagogical documentation because it demonstrates how I use observation to understand children’s learning and make their thinking visible. Developed collaboratively with my peers, this documentation captures four children drawing with chalk on the pavement, highlighting their creativity, curiosity, and rich peer interactions. As the children created images such as a heart, grass, a shark, and the sun, they explored artistic expression, environmental awareness, and cause-and-effect relationships.

The video also shows meaningful conversations between the educator and children about colours, their drawings, and the impact of rain, reinforcing the value of responsive guidance. I selected this artifact because it reflects my philosophy that children learn best through exploration and discovery, with educators thoughtfully supporting their interests. It also represents my commitment to play-based, Emergent Curriculum, where children’s ideas shape the learning experience.
